Meet the Director

DEBBIE SHARP - BAppSc (OT)

Debbie is an occupational therapist (OT) with over 20 years experience. She has a comprehensive background in complex and severe injuries including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputations, burns and significant orthopaedic conditions.

 

With experience in a variety of clinical settings including acute, rehabilitation hospitals, the community and private practice, Debbie has developed a sound knowledge base in regards to neurological recovery and skills in the identification of rehabilitation needs. She has held past appointments within the Brain Injury Unit - Liverpool Hospital, Spinal Unit - Royal Rehab as well as Lifetime Care and Support.

 

Debbie has specific expertise in the areas of functional assessments, cognitive assessments, activities of daily living re-training, upper limb re-training, adaptive equipment prescription, home modifications, care needs reviews, attendant care training and complex case management.

 

She is well-equipped in her role by possessing Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and Care and Needs Scale (CANS) accreditation as well as being an Approved Lifetime Care and Support Case Manager since 2011.

 

Debbie holds a broad understanding of Lifetime Care, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) and Workers Care guidelines, procedures and reporting requirements. Her skill and knowledge in these fields also enables her to provide oversight and mentoring to other therapists and consultants.

 

Debbie's areas of interest include person-centred planning, delivering goal-directed intervention and pro-active health promotion. A people orientated person, she has strengths in working with varied ages and ability levels. Her resourcefulness is an asset in identifying suitable intervention solutions for everyday problems. Excelling in organisational skills, Debbie maintains a high standard of professionalism and reliability.

 

Debbie has a strong commitment to continuing professional education. She is fully registered with AHPRA and a committed member to Occupational Therapy Australia.
